Welcome to my Blog.
This week I have used the High Tide stamp set from Stampin'Up! to create my "TAKE ME TO THE SEA" Card. I love playing along to the Global Design Project and again (as always) this super talented team have provided wonderful examples for us to get our creative juices flowing...

I have just returned from a Stamping Retreat in Kiama and just wanted to say I had an absolute blast, spending time with so many like minded crafters. I can't imagine spending my time with a better group of people or having a better up-line than my beautiful BFF Louise who is totally awesome!
This week THEME is so fitting "TAKE ME TO THE SEA" as my card was created for just that!
I was asked if I could demonstrate a technique called BLACK ICE that I had used on one of my swap cards. I must say I did feel a little nervous following on from such talent as Clare Langsford, Teneale Williams and of course the very talent Ms Louise herself.

My Card

I absolutely love the Black Ice technique. Melissa Kerman developed this technique but there has been many different versions since. For my card I used Tranquil Tide Cardstock and the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper (146284) on page 83 of the Annual Catalogue. I  also add some Burlap Ribbon and a True Gentleman Button.

The Technique
  • Take your Black Archival or Memento ink and wipe in a downward motion on your foil sheet. Doing it all over the paper. Then flip your foil sheet so that the bottom is now the top and repeat the first step again.
  • Then Stamp your images again using Black Archival or Memento ink pad.
  • Use your SU! Heat gun tool on 1st setting, heat your foil sheet until ink is dry.
  • Once dry, take your Versa Mark pad and gently wipe in a downward motion like you did with the black ink. Flip the bottom to the top and repeat.
  • Sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder over the entire foil sheet. Then flick excess powder off. I rub my finger over the image to create lighter areas. I felt it helped in creating softer ice crystals.
  • Again using your heat gun on the 1st setting, heat set until crystals appear.
Thanks for stopping by and allowing me to share my story with you!
